How to use the pocket microscope
- Start at the lowest magnification (60x) so the specimen is easier to find.
- Rest the microscope steadily over a dry, still object such as a leaf or a piece of fabric.
- Turn the focus wheel slowly until the surface looks sharp.
- Increase the zoom towards 120x, then refocus so the picture stays sharp.
- Loop the wrist strap around the wrist while walking, then switch the LED off when you finish.
What can kids look at with a handheld microscope?
Choose clean, dry and stationary subjects. Good first ideas from around the house and garden include:

Safety and care

- Wear the wrist strap on the wrist only. Do not wear it around the neck or take it into bed.
- Wipe the body with a soft dry cloth and clean the lens only with suitable lens tissue, not household sprays.
