Fractions click faster when children can see them and move them. These Montessori fraction circles give kids 51 colour-coded foam pieces in nine full circles, from one whole down to twelfths, so they can build a whole, compare sizes and see for themselves why 2/4 is the same as 1/2.
It is a simple, low-cost fraction toy for parents, tutors, homeschool families and teachers. Choose the non-magnetic set for table play or the magnetic set for whiteboard lessons.
What is in the 51-piece fraction circles set
Every fraction has its own colour and its own full circle, and every piece has its fraction printed on it. That means a child can check an answer by laying the pieces on top of each other, not by guessing from a worksheet.

How to teach fractions with fraction circles
You do not need a lesson plan. Five short activities cover most of what children meet when fractions start at school.

Make one whole. Ask your child to build a complete circle using halves, thirds, quarters or a mix of pieces.

Compare sizes. Put 1/2 beside 1/4 and ask which piece is bigger. Children see that a bigger denominator means a smaller piece.

Find equal amounts. Show that two quarters cover exactly the same space as one half, or that three sixths match one half.

Add pieces with the same denominator. Try 1/4 + 1/4 = 2/4, then swap those two quarters for a half and check that it fits.

Link it to real life. Talk about cutting a pizza, a cake or a sandwich into equal parts, then rebuild it with the circles.
Fractions in the Australian Curriculum
The fractions in this set are the ones children meet in the early primary years. The codes below come from Australian Curriculum Version 9 so you can match activities to your child's year level.
Year 2
Students recognise one-half as one of two equal parts of a whole, and work with halves, quarters and eighths of shapes and objects (AC9M2N03 and AC9M2M02). Halves, quarters and eighths are all in the set.
Year 3
Students recognise and represent unit fractions including 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/5 and 1/10 and their multiples, and combine fractions with the same denominator to complete the whole (AC9M3N02). Every one of those fractions is in the set.
Magnetic or non-magnetic: which set should you choose?
Non-magnetic
Best for a table, desk, tray or floor. It is the simple choice for home practice, tutoring at the kitchen table and children who like to lay circles out flat.
Magnetic
Best if you want to use the pieces on a magnetic whiteboard, fridge or other magnetic surface, for example when a parent, tutor or teacher is demonstrating at the board.

Safety, age and care
Age and small pieces. This set is listed for children aged 3 and over. It is not suitable for children under 3 years because of the small pieces, and children should be supervised while they play. Keep the set away from babies and toddlers, including younger brothers and sisters.
Magnetic set. Keep the magnetic pieces away from young children. If a piece is damaged, stop using it and keep any loose magnetic part out of children's reach.
Care. Store the pieces together in a bag or box so none go missing, and check them for tears and wear before each lesson.

What age are these fraction circles suitable for?

Standard delivery is with Australia Post and generally takes about 2–4 business days to reach most addresses in Australia. Remote or restricted areas may have limited delivery options. Unforeseen events such as extreme weather can cause delays, and we will try to let you know promptly.

Returns and refunds
You can start a return if all of the following apply:
- The item is returned within 14 days of the purchase date.
- You provide your original Toys4us invoice or proof of purchase.
- The item is in its original condition: unopened, unused and with all original packaging and tags.

Eligible returns, including change of mind returns, are offered an exchange for a product of equal value (subject to availability) or store credit for future purchases. Return shipping is your responsibility unless the item is faulty or damaged. We recommend a trackable shipping method, because we cannot be responsible for items lost in transit.
If an item arrives damaged or defective, contact us immediately. We will arrange a replacement or a full refund, including return shipping, once the item is returned to us. Refunds and exchanges are processed within 4 days of receiving the return.
Used or damaged items, items without original packaging or tags, and personalised or custom-made items cannot be returned.
