What Kids Do on an LED Busy Board

Each board turns small, repeated movements into something that lights up, which is why children come back to them again and again. Depending on the design, your child can:

  • Press buttons and flip rocker switches to light up coloured bulbs, then switch them off again.
  • Turn a key, a knob or a dial, the same actions they see grown-ups use every day.
  • Spin gears on the dinosaur board and match each movement to a light.
  • Steer, change gear and flick switches on the steering wheel board, then flip it over for the letter chart on the back.
  • Use the spanner and screwdriver on the tool and vehicle sets, including the nuts and bolts on the truck.

All of this gives small hands practice with pressing, twisting and gripping, and gives hand-eye coordination a workout, without a screen in sight. Most boards are small enough to carry, so they work on trips as well as at home. If your child is younger than three, browse our busy boards for toddlers or busy boards for infants instead.

Safety and Supervision

Recommended for ages 3 to 6, with an adult nearby. Not for children under 3.

  • Keys, nuts, bolts, knobs and the tools are small parts. Keep them away from younger siblings.
  • Some boards have a cable or lanyard. Never let a child wear one around the neck or wrap it around fingers or limbs.
  • Adults should fit and change any batteries, and keep spare batteries out of reach.
  • The keys, plugs and tools belong to the board. Show children that real power points and real tools are not toys.
  • Check the board often and stop play if a part comes loose or breaks.

Returns

You can return an item within 14 days of purchase if it is unused, unopened and in its original packaging, with your invoice. Change-of-mind returns are offered as an exchange or store credit. If an item arrives faulty or damaged, contact us straight away and we will arrange a replacement or a full refund. Read the refund policy for the full steps.

Which LED busy board should I choose?

For a first board, MY10082H is the all-rounder: a key, switches, buttons and a bright round light for $48.99. Pick MY10012L if your child loves dinosaurs and gears, a tool set (MY10012H, MY10012K or ATS30219) for kids who like to fix things, and MY10082A for a bigger steering wheel board to give as a gift.

What age is an LED busy board for?

These boards are recommended for ages 3 to 6 with adult supervision. They contain small parts such as keys, knobs and tools, so they are not suitable for children under 3.

How big are the boards?

Most designs are between 14 and 22 cm across, small enough for a backpack. The truck (ATS30219) is a 3D model about 18 × 12 × 10 cm, the music plane is 25 cm wide and 27 cm high, and the steering wheel board (MY10082A) is the largest at 30 × 22 × 8.5 cm. The table above lists every size.

Do the tool sets include the spanner and screwdriver?

Yes. MY10012H, MY10012K and ATS30219 are sold with the spanner and screwdriver shown in their photos. Keep the tools with an adult when play is over.

Is a busy board a good gift?

It suits birthdays and Christmas for 3 to 6 year olds, and the guitar (TTF01119A) and music plane (TTF01119B) designs make a good wow-factor present. If the design is not right, our refund policy covers exchanges and store credit on unused items within 14 days.

Can I buy more than one design?

Yes. Each design has its own option code and price. Add one, then choose another option from the selector, which works well if you are shopping for siblings or a classroom.
